You know what the 2012 Three Stooges movie was really missing? No, not a nun in a barely-there bathing suit. Nope, not a skateboard powered by dogs. Not even massive head trauma! A currently unnamed action star! That’s the ticket!
The Wrap reports that this horrific wrong, this black mark against cinema, this eye-gouge to the heart is going to be remedied, thanks to a brand new Three Stooges sequel that will reunite original (or, well, original modern, you know what we mean, sigh) stars Will Sasso, Sean Hayes, and Chris Diamantopoulos as the accident-prone goofballs, alongside a “major action star.” Arnold, is that you? Sylvester? Vin Diesel?
The outlet also shares that the new Stooges movie will be penned by Cameron Fay, who recently wrote the upcoming Taran Killam-starring comedy Brother In Laws. The film is billed as an action-comedy (fair), though its plot is currently being kept under wraps. But the inclusion of said unnamed action star conjures up all sorts of wacky possibilities, most of which will likely lead to a bunch of horrific injuries that somehow manage to not be deadly.
The 2012 Farrelly Brothers-directed Three Stooges received mixed reviews (it’s currently at a 51 percent Rotten rating over on Rotten Tomatoes, which seems generous), but it did make over $54 million at the global box office.
We kind of can’t wait to see which unnamed action star is lining up to get gouged in the face.
