The following post contains SPOILERS for Iron Man 3.
Last week Sir Ben Kingsley said he’d shot a “secret Marvel project” but wasn’t at liberty to disclose its exact nature. Yesterday, Latino Review’s El Mayimbe announced he had the details on what was going on. “Apparently, Marvel knows deep down that what they did with the Mandarin character in Iron Man 3 was straight up BUMJUICE!” he notes. To rectify that misuse of the potential of Kingsley’s character, El Mayimbe says the “real Mandarin” will be getting his own “Marvel One-Shot” short film to try to extract some revenge. There have been four such shorts so far, each included as a bonus feature on Blu-rays of Marvel movies.
Kingsley is currently on the press junket circuit to promote Ender’s Game. “I’m proud of Ender’s Game,” he said in one interview, “which I think has a wide appeal because it’s about family.” Kingsley will next week “start filming a movie with Ridley Scott, whom I admire.” (The Scott film is the forthcoming Biblical epic Exodus.)
Kingsley made his name as a theater actor, but he says that part of his life is now behind him. “I spent 15 years on stage and there’s no role I still yearn to play,” he said. “My future definitely lies in film and I intend to set up my own production company making movies in which I will obviously appear. But I will also act in other films because that’s what I love to do and I can usually tell a good script within 10 pages.”
