Between Marvel, Fox, and Warner Bros, there are aproximately 60 bajillion comic-book movies in active development right now, which translates to approximately 600 bajillion comic-book-movie casting rumors in active development right now as well. In an effort to cover them all without filling The Dissolve with 600 bajillion blog posts, here are all the latest stories, rapid-fire style.
- Joaquin Phoenix is definitely not playing Doctor Strange for Marvel, but Benedict Cumberbatch might. And Colin Farrell might, too. Also, Keanu Reeves might. Ryan Gosling could as well. Cumberbatch, Farrell, and Reeves are “believed to be the… frontrunners” but Jared Leto, Justin Theroux, and Oscar Isaac might play Doctor Strange as well. So many different doctors! Is this Doctor Strange or Doctor Who? [TheWrap]
- Tom Hardy won’t play Doctor Strange because he might be in Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad. Will Smith might show up in Suicide Squad too. Margot Robbie, who appears with Smith in the upcoming Focus, might join the film as well, after deciding not to do Ghost In The Shell, which now might star Scarlett Johansson. [Deadline]
- If Hardy doesn’t do Suicide Squad, then he might appear as the title villain in the next X-Men movie, X-Men: Apocalypse. Hardy has already played one insane, bald super-villain, The Dark Knight Rises’ Bane, so he’s got experience. [TheWrap]
I think that covers everything for now. But give it about 20 minutes, there will be a new rumor to talk about.
