Get out your dancing thongs, it’s time to celebrate the return of the undulating men of Magic Mike, thanks to its much-hyped sequel. Magic Mike XXL has been steadily rounding out its cast for weeks now—no Matthew McConaughey! 100 percent more Jada Pinkett Smith!—but now the feature has announced its full cast list, along with its official synopsis. It’s an XXL amount of information.
Warner Bros. (via Coming Soon) revealed a long list of extremely varied talents, including returning stars Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez, and Gabriel Iglesias, who will be joined on screen by Elizabeth Banks, Andie MacDowell, Amber Heard, Jada Pinkett Smith, Donald Glover, and Michael Strahan. See? We told you it was varied.
It’s still unclear which roles the new stars will fill in the upcoming Gregory Jacobs film—will both Glover and Strahan step on stage with the other dancing dudes? Are Smith and MacDowell the owners of a rowdy new strip club?—but points to the production for seriously mixing it up. Warner Bros. also passed along the film’s official synopsis, confirming that we’re in for a stripper road-trip adventure the likes of which no one has ever seen on the big screen:
“Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, Magic Mike XXL finds the remaining Kings Of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.”
It looks like the South is going to, uh, rise again. Magic Mike XXL will gyrate into theaters on July 1, 2015.
