Details are scant (you can only fit so many details into a 140-character tweet), but Drive and Only God Forgives director Nicolas Winding Refn has revealed his next project:
The silence has been broken my next film will be I WALK WITH THE DEAD shooting in LA— Nicolas Winding Refn (@NicolasWR) June 6, 2014
Refn has talked about the film before; last May, he described I Walk With The Dead as “a sexy thriller horror movie with an all female cast” to The Playlist. In October, the London Evening Standard reported that playwright Polly Stenham had been brought in to work on the screenplay. “He’s got a lot of stick for doing films some people think are violently misgynistic,” she told the paper. “So he approached me with the idea of doing something different.”
It could have been even more different if Refn had stuck with one of his original ideas for the film’s setting, Tokyo. Instead he’ll return to Los Angeles, where he had his biggest success with Drive. Maybe Ryan Gosling’s nameless character can appear in a cameo, driving through the background of a shot wearing a satin scorpion jacket.
