TheWrap reports that Bridesmaids and The Heat star Melissa McCarthy is in talks to reunite with Bridesmaids and The Heat director Paul Feig on a third collaboration, a spy comedy titled Susan Cooper. The film is described as “a realistic comedy about a female James Bond-type—rather than a spoof along the lines of Spy Hard.”
Ever since Seth Rogen started developing and starring in his own projects separate from Judd Apatow, Hollywood has had a distinct lact of dependable comedy-actor/director duos. (Unless you count Adam Sandler and Dennis Dugan. Please, please say you don’t count Adam Sandler and Dennis Dugan.) Sandra Bullock told Entertainment Weekly that she “can’t imagine” making a sequel to The Heat, but fans of this summer’s buddy-cop surprise hit can at least console themselves with the news that Feig and McCarthy are developing a solid filmmaking rapport.
Also, was the quote above implying that Spy Hard is a bad movie to model a project on? Because I have no beef with Spy Hard, nor its fabulous opening credits.
