Back in 2012, Joss Whedon, a filmmaker probably best known for a TV adaption of the 1992 Kristy Swanson vehicle Buffy The Vampire Slayer, released a fun little film called The Avengers. It was sort of a buddy comedy/coming-of-age film about the misadventures of a group of outcasts with silly names, who together learn a little bit about life, and lot about saving the world. The Avengers received good notices at the time, but since then has faded from the public consciousness, a victim of our collective disinterest in movies about superheroes and blowing stuff up real good. Apparently there’s been a sequel to The Avengers in the works for some time now—first we’ve heard of it! Astutely anticipating that audiences have probably forgotten all about Captain Hulk and Iron Witch by now, and need a little refresher, a new TV spot offers a helpful crash course in what these avenging guys are all about. Prepare to meet Scarlet Man and Hawkthor again, for the first time!

The entire trailer in one screengrab:
Now that we all remembered who The Avengers are, we can unpack some of the goodies offered in this one-minute spot—specifically, our first good looks at new additions Pietro Maximoff, a.k.a. speed-demon Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson, sporting a funny accent), and his sister Wanda, a.k.a scarlet witch Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen, who doesn’t get a line here, but presumably also rocks the Euro tongue). There’s also, thankfully, some more of the humor that was missing from early, Pinocchio-centric Avengers 2 trailers, with some fun Tony Stark/Captain America banter to remind everyone that those guys totally don’t like each other that much! Also, Cap throws a motorcycle! Thor plays baseball with Cap’s shield! Oh what fun they’re all having. Stupid Ultron (James Spader), bringing a sense of danger and gravitas to all this superhero mischief!
