The holiday season is here and now that we’ve sorted through the best films of the year and other end-of-2014 matters, The Dissolve is going to take a short break. But have no fear, there will still be reasons to check back in: We’ll be posting reviews of some pretty big Christmas releases like Selma, Into The Woods, Big Eyes, Leviathan, The Interview, American Sniper, Unbroken, and Two Days, One Night next week. Next week will also see the unveiling of our first-ever readers’ poll.
Before we go, I want to thank all the great Dissolve staffers and contributors for another great year. And to thank all of you for reading us. It’s a rare pleasure to have such a smart, engaged bunch of readers.
We’ll be back in full swing in January, starting with a Movie Of The Week look at the classic 1970s thriller The Taking Of Pelham One Two Three our first week back. That’s a special Movie Of The Week takeover week where we’ll be handing the reins over to Dan McCoy, Elliott Kalan, and Stuart Wellington, the hosts of the terrific bad-movie podcast The Flop House. Consider this an early warning chance to catch up both with the movie and with the podcast. We’ll be following Pelham with Movie Of The Week looks at Heat and Back To The Future.
Finally, I want to give a very special thanks to Kate Erbland, who’s served as our interim news editor these past few weeks. She’s done a terrific job during an especially busy time. Kate’s stepping away from the news editing desk today, but you’ll still see her byline here (and elsewhere) as a contributor. In January we’ll welcome our new news editor, Rachel Handler, whose name you’ll be seeing a lot around here.
That’s it. Happy Holidays to all of you from all of us. See you in 2015.
