After a bootlegged low-res version of the new teaser for Avengers: Age Of Ultron leaked last night, Marvel decided to jump the gun on next week’s planned release and simply put the trailer up now (and blame the whole thing, amusingly, on an evil Hydra plot). So here it is, live and in living HD color, the first teaser for Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age Of Ultron:
The trail of the tape
Title: Avengers: Age Of Ultron
Director: Joss Whedon
Screenwriter: Joss Whedon
Cast: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, James Spader
Release date: May 1, 2015
Suggested alternate title: Pinocchio 2: The Avengening
The entire trailer in one line of dialogue: “You want to protect the world, but you don’t want it to change.”
The entire trailer in one screengrab:
You’re all going to say Joss Whedon is a huge Pinocchio fan. But I prefer to believe that he’s a huge Gamer fan. Terry Crews!
We could break this thing down frame by frame and shot by shot (and I have absolutely no doubt that some websites will be doing that in the days ahead), but in the broad strokes it looks like another Joss Whedon Avengers movie: Lots of heroes posing together and looking serious, citizens fleeing for their lives, a serious villain who’s ready to make life miserable for the good guys. The one thing that’s really missing here is Whedon’s trademark humor, which I’m sure will start to pop up in later trailers.
Marvel also released the first official poster for the movie as well. Robo-logo!
Now we just have to wait seven more months to see the rest of the movie. That’s not so bad, I guess. Gives you time to do other things, like watch the original Avengers 270 more times.
